PЕRSECUTION ON REVISIONISTS IN SFRY: THE CASE OF VLADIMIR DEDIJER AND THE ACTIONS OF THE STATE SECURITY SERVICE AGAINST THE “REVISION” OF HISTORY

APSTRAKT/REZIME:

The phe­no­me­non of hi­sto­ri­cal re­vi­si­o­nism in com­mu­nist Yugo­sla­via ap­pe­a­red as a form of ide­o­lo­gi­cal (mis)use, as a me­ans of disqua­lifying po­li­ti­cal and party dis­si­dents. In this sen­se, the ca­se of Vla­di­mir De­di­er is the most stri­king exam­ple and pa­ra­digm of the com­mu­nist party’s at­ti­tu­de towards hi­sto­ri­cal sci­en­ce, espe­ci­ally in the sen­si­ti­ve fi­eld of con­tem­po­rary hi­story. In its as­ses­sment of De­di­er, the Sta­te Se­cu­rity Ser­vi­ce of Yugo­sla­via emp­ha­si­zed that he was not con­nec­ted to any fo­re­ign in­tel­li­gen­ce ser­vi­ce, so no ju­di­ci­al proceedings were ini­ti­a­ted aga­inst him. It was as­ses­sed that De­di­jer con­ti­nu­o­usly wor­ked to deny the of­fi­ci­al ver­si­on of the hi­story of the Se­cond World War and the so­ci­a­list Ju­gi­sal­via and to re­vi­se the hi­sto­ri­cal ro­le of Jo­sip Broz. It was emp­ha­si­zed that, from a se­cu­rity po­int of view, his ac­ti­vity fits in­to the long-term stra­te­gic go­als of both the East and the West, in terms of in­ter­nal de­sta­bi­li­za­ti­on of the SFRY and com­pro­mi­sing its reputation in the world. De­di­er’s “ho­sti­le ac­ti­vity” was cha­rac­te­ri­zed by con­ti­nu­ity, pu­bli­city and per­si­sten­ce in spre­a­ding “untruths” abo­ut cer­ta­in hi­sto­ri­cal events and “slan­der” aga­inst the sta­te-party le­a­ders­hip of Yugo­sla­via.
