APSTRAKT/REZIME:

Ovaj članak je posvećen analizi Drugog svetskog rata kao ključnog istorijskog faktora koji je, u različitim dimenzijama, pre, tokom i posle tog velikog događaja, neposredno doprineo rastu i sazrevanju burmanskog oslobodilačkog pokreta. Taj pokret je vremenom postao, ne samo značajna vojna, već i izrazita politička snaga, koja je, vešto balansirajući između zaraćenih velikih sila, stvorila neophodne mehanizme kojima se konačno oslobodila stranog tutorstva i potom postigla konačni cilj stvaranja nezavisne Burme.
