ABSTRACT/RESUME:
The basic tasks of the Red Cross Society were related to action in wartime conditions. However, in peacetime, this organization represented an auxiliary body of military and civilian health authorities, so it focused its activities on providing assistance to sick, neglected children, as well as those threatened by natural disasters. The formed Morava Banovina Committee managed the organization of county and municipal committees and the acquisition of citizens for membership. The financing of the banovina board is organized from various sources, primarily membership fees. It is not uncommon for large investments to require help from local institutions, but also from the Central Board, which is otherwise responsible for allocating certain funds to municipalities. One of the more important activities of the Banovina Committee was the training, in cooperation with the military authorities and local health institutions, of volunteer paramedics, who, in case of war, would be helpful with their basic knowledge of medicine. The data show a much higher response among women, for whom these courses also determined their professional orientation.
